Who we are
Noreen Foods LLC is the company behind this website and behind the jars. It is a registered limited liability company, and it is the party responsible for any information you give us here.
We are a small food business. We cook pantry staples, put them in jars, and sell them to American households. That is the whole of it, and this policy is short because the business is.
Your use of this website is also governed by our Terms of Use, which this policy forms part of.
What this policy covers
This website, at every page under it, and any email you send to the address at the bottom of this page.
It does not cover a shop that sells our jars. Once a jar reaches a shelf, the shop you buy it from is the seller, and what it does with your information is governed by its own policy and not by ours. If you bought a jar in a store and have a question about that purchase, the store holds your details. We do not.
What we collect
We collect what you choose to type into a form or write in an email. Nothing on this site collects anything about you in the background.
There are six forms and they ask for different things.
The contact form asks for your name, your email address, the subject you picked, and your message.
The stockist and wholesale inquiry asks about your business, because that is what we need in order to answer it: the business name, a contact name and role, a work email and phone number, the type of business, how many locations you run, the city and state, which of our products interest you, roughly what volume you are thinking about, who distributes for you now, and anything else you want to tell us.
The product report asks what happened, which product, the lot code and best before date printed on the jar, where and when you bought it, and how to reach you. It also asks whether anyone was unwell. That question is optional and there is a section about it below.
The gifting and bundles inquiry asks for your name, email, an occasion, a rough quantity, when you need it, and where it is going.
The stockist request asks for your email, your zip code, and the name of a shop you would like to see us in.
The press inquiry asks for your name, your outlet, your email, and your deadline.
The email list asks for an email address, and optionally a zip code so that what we send about shops near you is actually near you.
You should not send us card numbers, bank details, government identification numbers or passwords through this website. We do not ask for any of them and there is no field on this site that wants one.
Trade inquiries
If you write to us as a business rather than as a shopper, what you send is commercial information about a company, and we treat it that way.
We use it to work out whether we can supply you, to quote and to arrange it, and to keep a record of the relationship. We do not add trade contacts to the consumer email list. A wholesale buyer who asked about pallet quantities has not asked to hear about a new flavour, and treating one as the other is how a trade inbox stops being read.
Product reports
If you tell us something was wrong with a jar, we keep that report as a food safety record rather than as ordinary correspondence, and we keep it longer than we keep an inquiry. The lot code is the reason. It is what lets us look at a whole batch rather than at a single jar, and a report without one is a report we cannot act on properly.
The form asks whether anyone was unwell. You do not have to answer it. We ask because it changes how urgently we look, and because a pattern across several reports is something we would need to act on quickly. If you answer it, we use that answer for that purpose and for nothing else. We do not add it to any other record about you, and we never use it for marketing.
If you believe a product made you or anyone else unwell, please contact a doctor. We are a food company and we are not qualified to advise you.
The email list
The list exists to say when a jar reaches a shelf near you, when there is a new one, and occasionally to send a recipe.
You are on it only if you asked to be. The box is never ticked for you, we never add an address because somebody used a different form, and every email we send carries a one-click unsubscribe and our postal address. Leaving takes one click and we do not ask why.
We do not sell the list, rent it, or share it with another brand.
Cookies and what this site loads
This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and carries no advertising pixels. There is nothing here that follows you to another website.
That is unusual enough to be worth explaining rather than just asserting. The typefaces are served from our own domain rather than from a font company, so loading a page does not tell anyone else that you loaded it. There is no tracking script, because we have not added one. There is no advertising network, because we do not sell advertising and we do not buy it here.
Our hosting provider receives the ordinary information any web server receives in order to answer a request, which includes your IP address, and keeps it briefly as operational logs. That is the floor for any website and we cannot go below it.
When you submit a form, and only then, its contents go to the form delivery service described below in order to reach our inbox. Nothing is sent while you are typing and nothing is sent if you do not submit.
If we ever add analytics, this section changes before the analytics do.
How we use what you give us
To answer you. To work out whether we can supply a shop or fill a gifting order. To investigate a product report. To send the email list to people who asked for it. To keep records of what we agreed and what we did. To meet our tax, accounting and food safety obligations.
We ask for what a purpose needs and we do not keep collecting after it stops being needed. If a field on one of our forms is not doing that work, it should not be on the form, and telling us so is a reasonable thing to write to us about.
Who we share it with
The people at Noreen Foods LLC who need it to do the work.
Service providers who run parts of this operation under contract with us. Our website host. The form delivery service that carries a submission from this site to our inbox and sends you a confirmation. Our email delivery service, if you are on the list. Each may use what it receives only in order to provide that service to us, and no further.
A carrier, if we are sending you something and it needs an address to deliver it to.
Anyone we are genuinely legally required to disclose to.
That is the complete list. There is nobody on it whose business is advertising.
What we never do
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those phrases are defined in California law, and we have not done either in the twelve months before the date at the top of this page. We do not trade addresses with other brands. We do not build a profile of you across other websites, because as described above we do not follow you to any. This overrides anything else in this policy that could be read another way.
How long we keep things
Inquiries and correspondence, for as long as we have a live or reasonably foreseeable relationship with you, and after that for as long as our records and legal obligations require.
Trade inquiries, for as long as the supply relationship is live, and then with our ordinary business records.
Product reports, for five years. This is the longest period here and it is deliberate. A food safety record is worth having when a question about a batch arrives long after the jar was eaten, and that is exactly when a short retention period would have thrown it away.
Email list membership, until you leave. When you unsubscribe we keep the fact that you unsubscribed, because that is the only way to be sure we do not add you back.
Tax, accounting and supply records, for the period the law requires us to keep them, which is longer than any of the above and which we cannot shorten on request.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can tell us to stop emailing you.
Depending on where you live you may hold those as formal rights under a state privacy law, and a growing number of states now provide them. Two things are worth saying to anyone reading this against one of those laws.
We honour requests from anyone who makes one. We do not check which state you live in first and then apply the law only where we have to. It is a smaller business decision for us than it would be for a large one, and it is the right answer regardless.
We will not treat you worse for exercising a right, we will not charge you for it, and if we need to check that a request really came from you we will ask for no more than is necessary to do that.

Your privacy choices
Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing here to opt out of. The section above is not a technicality and it is not hedged.
We also honour the Global Privacy Control, the setting some browsers and extensions send on your behalf to say you do not consent to your information being sold or shared. Since we do not do either, honouring it costs us nothing and changes nothing about your visit, and we would rather say that plainly than let the absence of a signal be read as an absence of respect for it.
If we ever start doing anything that a person would sensibly want to opt out of, this section gets a way to do it before that starts.
Security
We protect what we hold with measures appropriate to what it is. Connections to this site are encrypted. Access is limited to the people who need it. Secrets are held outside the codebase. The providers we build on are reputable ones with their own security controls.
We are not going to tell you that our systems cannot be broken into, because nobody can honestly say that about any system. What we can tell you is that if something happens that affects your information, we will tell you, and we will tell the regulators we are required to tell.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under sixteen. Our forms have no reason to ask a child's age and none of them do.
If you believe a child has given us information, tell us and we will delete it.
Where your information is handled
We are a United States company, our food is made in the United States, and we handle information in the United States.
If you are outside the United States, using this site or writing to us means your information is handled here, under privacy law that differs from your own.
Changes to this policy
We will post any change on this page and move the date at the top. If a change materially affects information you have already given us, we will tell you directly where we have a way to reach you.
Changes are never applied backwards to make something we already did acceptable.
